Procedure: This procedure is used when a retina tear or detached. The laser makes small burns around the retinal tear. The scarring that results from seals the retina to the underlying tissue, helping to prevent a retinal detachment.
Duration: About 10 minutes per eye.
Side Effects: It is common to have blurry vision and pain for the first few hours after the surgery.
Recovery: Because it can take up to a week for the laser treatment to seal the retinal tear, a period of decreased activity for about 10-14 days is recommended.
