Procedure: Augmentation mammoplasty is a procedure to enlarge the size of the breast using silicone or saline implants, which are placed through a small incision in the areola.
It is chosen with the patient the best place to locate (subglandular or retromuscular) according to each particular case.
Duration: 1-2 hours.
Anesthesia: Local or general, depending on the patient.
Hospitalization: Usually this surgery is ambulatory.
Side Effects: Temporary pain or swelling. There may be a transiently decreased sensation in the nipples.
Mammography requires a particular technique. During consultation risks associated with the implants will be discussed.
Recovery: Return to normal activities a few days later.
Physical contact: three to four weeks.
